Treat Anxiety Attacks Naturally

There are several ways that you can use herbal remedies and alternative medicines to treat anxiety attacks. If you can’t or simply don’t want to use traditional medicines to treat your anxiety, then natural remedies are the best choice for you.

Herbs

There are several herbs that have been used to treat anxiety attacks over the last few generations, including kava kava, St. John’s Wort and valerian root. You may want to speak to your doctor about your herbal options before you treat anxiety attacks with any medications, since herbs do have some side effects.

The most common herb that has been used to treat anxiety attacks is Kava. Kava, or kava kava, is similar to prescription anti-anxiety drugs that work on the chemical receptors in your brain to reduce and eliminate the feelings of anxiety.

Exercise

If you live a mostly sedentary life, and need to find a way to treat anxiety attacks naturally, then you may want to consider adding thirty minutes of exercise to your day. Exercise will help to release endorphins into your body, which are your body’s natural “feel good” hormones.

If you don’t have time to exercise for thirty minutes straight, then you can simply exercise for a few minutes at a time so that you equal thirty minutes a day. For example, taking a five minute break for walking each hour will add up to thirty minutes, and give you the same results as walking for thirty minutes straight.

Drink Tea

Chamomile tea is also an excellent way to treat anxiety attacks naturally. Chamomile is also good for minor aches and pains, since it has a mild pain reliever in it naturally.

One of the best things about using chamomile tea is that there are little or no harmful side effects, so you do not have to worry about taking too much of the product.

Meditation

Meditation can also be an excellent way to naturally treat anxiety attacks. If you do not have experience with meditation, then you can either take classes to learn the technique, or you can find a book to use as a guide.

You may be able to find a book that will help you learn meditation at your local library, so that you can learn the breathing techniques and time frame that you need to successfully learn to use meditation as a relaxing tool.

Journaling

If you are trying to treat anxiety attacks naturally, then you may want to try writing down what occurs before, during and after your anxiety attacks. This will help you recognize and prevent anxiety attacks in the future, since after a while you will be able to recognize the symptoms that precede an attack.

You will also learn how to work with your feelings during the anxiety attack, so that you can work through the attack without using prescription medications. It may take a few tries before you can prevent your anxiety attacks, but once you have learned your personal triggers it will become much easier.
